Our School Age Program!
Little Country Childcare: School Age Program The Little Country Childcare School Age program is a home away from home, where children of the age group can learn and play. The program provides a safe environment for parents to leave their children, knowing they will be happy and well cared for. There will be a maximum of 12 children at any one time. The age range of the children will be from the entry of kindergarten to age 12. The program is planned by staff who know how children grow and develop. The staff provides an environment which encourages each child’s growth and learning abilities. Typical Day: During the school year, a child will spend one to five hours a day with our program before and after school. Typical Day Description: Morning is a time for relaxing, quiet indoor play (board games etc.), or for preparing for school by completing homework. The Program Staff are available for discussion, answering questions, helping find materials, and for providing direction in the classroom. Afternoon: Afternoon activities offer children a longer periods of time to release pent-up energy, to work on continuing projects and to plan and participate in local field trips. Children may also participate in preparing snacks, cook new recipes, and organized sports and activities. The schedule allows time for children, with the assistance of an adult if needed, to do their homework. Group Time: Group time is used as an opportunity to bring the whole group together to plan for the day or week, provide and receive information, discuss activity choices, share news, read a story, and introduce new children into the program. Clean Up: Each day, housekeeping chores are completed by all participants in the program. Each child is encouraged to do their part in maintaining a neat and orderly environment. Children participating in this activity assist in making the classroom homelike and are encouraged to be responsible for their environment. Full Day: On occasions (holiday, vacation etc.), school age children will attend the program for an extended day. Special planning by the Program Staff will ensure a variety of activities, including quiet and active experiences to span the day. |
